The first Hughenden Public Library Board was formed in January of 1974, and consisted of five women with a passion for this project. They were Evelyn Anderson, Irene Gilpin, Dorothy Johnson, Ruth Powell and Margaret Wall. The first library collection was

The mission of the Mannville Centennial Public Library is to establish, provide and promote modern library resources in print, non-print and electronic media, and services necessary to meet the evolving educational cultural, recreational and informational needs of the public. The library shall use these means to promote and enlighten it's patrons and enrich personal lives.
