Grace Sparkes House officially opened in October, 2000 following many years of lobbying by concerned citizens and service providers on the Burin Peninsula to ensure the women and children from this region had a safe haven for support.
Grace Sparkes House offers services to women, with or without children, who are experiencing violence and abuse. Our goal is to support those using our service regain control over their lives. We do this by offering a safe and supportive living environment, information and supportive counseling. We seek to assist women in making decisions necessary to make a fresh start with a non-judgmental, empowering approach.
Marguerite's Place houses the offices and programs of St. John's Status of Women's Council and the Women's Centre. We opened the doors to Marguerite's Place at 170 Cashin Ave. Ext. in the fall of 2011. At this location we offer affordable, fully accessible programming and supportive housing in a women-centered environment.
