We have come every year in December from Hamilton to Simcoe to see the Christmas lights. We stop at the Barrel Restaurant first, and it is a highlight of our trip: excellent food, excellent atmosphere. There is a very large menu, so I know people can order what they want and sometimes get something different from what they want. Suffice to say that I find the Penne Capri on par with meals served in Italy, and my husband and in-laws refuse to order anything other than the lasagna because they enjoy it so much every time. This is one of my favourite restaurants. I first was taken here by my father after he had been so impressed eating here at a business lunch. We haven't had a bad meal here ever. My favourite meal is always the eggplant parmesan. It has to be prepared ahead of time, so make to to mention when you make your reservation, if you want it.
Food quality is always amazing. The owner is attentive, enthusiastic, and passionate about the food and service. The owner may be Greek, but coming from an Italian girl who grow up on my Italian Nana's fresh made food, he knows his Italian food.
