We are a Canadian agency committed to promoting social justice and people-centred development in Central America and Mexico (Mesoamerica) with the cooperation of communities in the South and North. In Mesoamerica, Horizons partners with local organizations to support grassroots programs for people-centred development, the promotion of human rights and citizen engagement. In Canada, Horizons fosters greater solidarity with the peoples of Mesoamerica through people-to-people connections and raise awareness among Canadians about international development, human rights and Canada's role in the world.
Green Wood Coalition is a unique response to poverty that grew from a community dinner at a run-down motel in 2006, to an effective outreach program among Port Hope's most vulnerable population. The efforts of our Community Outreach Worker, supported by over 100 volunteers, seek to remove barriers to accessing housing, income support, healthcare, and food supply. The weekly meal now serving 70 plus, is essential to building trust with individuals who face daily struggles. Each week 10-12 individuals take advantage of an outreach Nurse Practitioner's care, 20 people are receiving foot care each month. We provide supports for more than 40 people in transitional housing at the Tower Hotel and the Ganaraska Hotel. A weekly expressive arts program involves 20 participants, and 10-20 people make use of our community garden. This roster of low-cost services has proven to be effective in reducing and preventing homelessness
Harwood is in the rich Red River Valley in eastern Cass County, North Dakota. It is the perfect small town life with an easy commute to work averaging 5-15 minutes to get anywhere in Fargo, Moorhead or West Fargo. Harwood's heritage is agricultural and the town remains a quiet, rural housing community surrounded by open farmland. The old downtown area is no longer recognizable long ago converted into private homes, but Harwood remains a true North Dakota community with caring neighbors, safe neighborhoods and quiet country nights

Welcome to National Diabetes Trust, Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household goods collection service and the social enterprise of Diabetes Canada.
With more than 5,000 donation bins and an active home pick-up service in communities across Canada, we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items to raise much-needed funds for Diabetes Canada. This helps support programs and research on behalf of the 11 million Canadians living with diabetes and pre-diabetes.
But, we’re more than just clothing donation collectors. We are an organization of dedicated professionals working with Canadians from coast to coast fighting to End Diabetes through waste diversion. Each year, the program diverts more than 100 million lbs. of clothing and household items from landfill sites across Canada.
With your help, we can continue to support diabetes research, education and reduce our environmental impact. Schedule a pick up today!
