Participation in negotiations for US electronic media agreements that also affect Canadian musiciansDevelopment of expanded regional referral agencies and on-line efforts for solo musicians and groups ranging from flute and harp duos to garage bandsService to symphonic musicians through the Canadian Symphonic Services DivisionHandling visas for Canadian musicians through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
The AFM has been promoting and protecting professional musicians for over 110 years. Local 518 has been serving Kingston and area musicians since 1920 and continues to be an effective advocate for musicians' rights in the workplace (be that a nightclub, theatre, a symphony stage, in a recording studio, or on tour). The AFM and Local 518 protect the recorded works musicians produce from being exploited, and protect our members live performances by providing several types of benefit programs that help them to build successful careers.
The Kingston Symphony Association exists to produce and promote professional quality programs of instrumental and choral music for the education, enjoyment and enrichment of audiences in the Greater Kingston area. We are dedicated to the support, development and showcasing of Canadian artists and composers.
