Longo Brothers Fruit Markets Inc.is a family owned business which was started byTommy, Joe and Gus Longo in 1956. The first store was located on Yonge Street and Castlefield, in Toronto. The first location was no more than 2,000 square feet. They had eight people working in the store which were all family members. In 1962, the Longo brothers opened their second store on Woodbine Avenue. Since then, the Longo family has been involved in every aspect of the business. To this day, team members of Longo's still go to the Ontario Food Terminal six days a week (6:00 am) to purchase the produce we have in our stores.
Longo's strongly believes that family values are essential to community growth. Since our company's beginnings in 1956, the Longo's team continues to participate in many initiatives which demonstrate the ongoing commitment to the well-being of the communities in which we serve. Longo's responsibility to our customers reaches far beyond the quality products and services that we provide. We have always maintained a leadership position of involvement with community activities as we strive to make a difference by concentrating our giving in areas where we believe we can make a significant impact. Longo's Giving is focused on programs that target the good health of families and the benefits of fresh, healthy eating.
