Our vision is to continue establishing Sugar Mountain as the retailer of choice for 'edible fun' while maintaining our uncompromising principles as we grow. Our mission is to have a market presence encompassing 20 retail stores across North America by 2015. In 1992 Sugar Mountain began in Toronto as a street level open-air booth on trendy Queen Street West. Our founder outgrew that booth and moved to a nearby storefront in early 1995.
At Anna Tolazzi we take great pride in creating truly handmade chocolates that are designed with love and care, are unique in flavour and original in design. The golden rule in our chocolate studio is to approach every day with the intent of expanding our horizon, adding to our knowledge, and to have as much fun as is defensible.
In 1913, Frank P. O'Connor opened a small candy store in Toronto where he sold hand-made chocolates. He named his store after Laura Secord, the Canadian heroine who was a symbol of courage, devotion, and loyalty.Laura Secord began as a single shop on Yonge Street in Toronto. O'Connor turned the flat above the shop into a kitchen and prepared his own products. Success prompted the company's expansion across Ontario and Quebec. In the 1930s, an office was opened in Winnipeg and pharmacies began carrying Laura Secord products.
