The Kettle Creek Conservation Authority (KCCA) was incorporated by an Order in Council in 1965. In partnership with its member municipalities, and the Province of Ontario, the Authority manages the natural resources of the Kettle Creek watershed and devotes itself to water and land conservation projects. The Full Authority, or Board of Directors, makes program decisions and allocates funds. This body is comprised of ten representatives from municipalities within the watershed. Together the members develop programs that further the conservation, restoration, development and management of the natural resources of Kettle Creek watershed.
A wilderness area in Canada's largest city? That's right! Not too far from the skyscrapers of downtown Toronto, urban dwellers can see a different landscape where historic farms, century-old trees, peaceful meadows and lush wetlands await you at your transit stop. Rouge Park is over 40 km2, protecting two National Historic Sites and a variety of ecosystems joining the post-glacial Oak Ridges Moraine, roughly 50 km north of Toronto, and the City's biggest wetland, where the Rouge River empties into Lake Ontario.
Formed in the aftermath of Hurricane Hazel, TRCA has a strong history in watershed management and leadership in applying sustainability practices. Today, we own more than 40,000 acres of land in the Toronto region, employ more than 475 full time employees and coordinate more than 3,000 volunteers each year. With decades of practical experience in protecting our environment, educating young people, and engaging communities, TRCA works with governments, businesses, and individuals to build a greener, cleaner healthier place to live.
Cedar Beach is a fantastic quick get-away for Toronto folks, even those with small motor scooters. The tent camping sites are clean, shaded, near the well maintained, well-lit bathrooms and beach.
