Restaurant Shalimar was started in 1990 by Mrs. Uma Nigam, with the assistance of her son Jyoti Nigam. Using knowledge gleaned from her upbringing in Northern India, Uma was the first to bring Indian cuisine to the Sherbrooke region.
Over the years, Shalimar has been able to adapt and improve its cuisine according to the refining tastes of its clientele, particularly vegetarians and vegans.
During the summer, vegetables and spices are grown in our garden organically and then end up on your table. We offer meat of lean cut and the vegetarian menu as varied region.

Delicious food! I’ve had an Indian 10 weekend cooking course from a biochemist (we worked at the same University) from Indian (you’d be surprised how easy it is to make saag paneer, other recipes not so much!) and eaten Indian food at restaurants in 5 US states including those on both coasts so I have some experience. Service is very good and the owner is very friendly. Carry out is very good & flexible if you want something from regular menu that’s not on the carry out menu they are ok with it.Read more
