Set in at the edge of a unique pine forest next to farmlands the Community Hall fits beautifully into the Pender Island ambience: warm and welcoming. Therapeutic riding is an alternative form of therapy using horses to help persons with various disabilities. Activities involving the horse can be used to assist people with disabilities in achieving physical and mental health, and cognitive, behavioral, social and communication goals. To offer a workplace and training program to people with barriers to employment in the public work sector. CTRA, began in 1986 and moved to Providence Farm in 1988. This facility has an indoor arena, outdoor ring, a 20 stall barn and lounge/office area as well as miles of trails. Teaching staff at CTRA are all certified with the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association Our staff consists of 3 Coaches, 1 Instructor, 4 Intermediate Instructors, and over 85 volunteers.
An incorporated non-profit society, the Mayne Island Health Centre Association (MIHCA) works with Island Health (Formerly VIHA), local health professionals, other community organizations and residents to ensure that Mayne Islanders have access to as many
