In 2012, North Star Air underwent a change in ownership and shortly thereafter North Star Air and Cargo North merged into one airline to better serve our customers.
North Star Air is a well managed and profitable airline carrier that provides a full suite of cost-effective air transportation solutions for passenger, charter, cargo and fuel services. We serve Northern Ontario and beyond from our operating bases in Thunder Bay, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Pickle Lake and Kapuskasing. We have a growing modernized and low maintenance fleet that consists of 6 Pilatus PC-12, 2 Cessna Grand Caravan and 3 Basler BT-67 aircraft; a game changer for the North.
With our Flex Flights passenger services, we currently serve 18 destinations in Northern Ontario where 80% of them are First Nations and our cargo business is experiencing significant growth as a result of new contracts with major corporations that provide lifeline services to the North.
Our purpose is to generate profit by providing our First Nation owners and other isolated communities with safe, reliable, and cost-effective air transportation services and to be leaders in the development of meaningful programs for the education and the employment of First Nation people in commercial aviation.Vision StatementWasaya Airways Limited Partnership (LP) will be the leading quality provider of airline services in Northern Ontario and Northern Manitoba. We will strive for success and growth by balancing the needs of our customers, shareholders and employees, while supporting our communities and protecting the great lands.
Imagine the quantities of food, clothing, hardware, building materials, gasoline, heating fuel, boats, motors, snowmobiles, medical supplies, school and office supplies that are required to meet the needs of over 25 communities with populations of 500 to 4,000 people. Now imagine having to air transport all of the supplies in to these communities whom do not have road access to southern markets, suppliers and manufacturers.
