Esquina is a super cozy café owned by Gatineau-native Roxanne Matte-Guilbault. Though she was destined for a career in fashion, her time spent in various third-wave cafés had her discover her true passion. “I fell in love with the coffee world,” she recalls. “I wanted to open my own [café] to do things my way.” After a lot of time planning, Roxanne opened Esquina in the early summer of 2016 and charmed the neighbourhood with her experience and know-how.
Roxanne named her café after a Spanish word because of her love for the language. “Esquina means corner. It’s like the little local coffee shop,” she explains. It’s a neighbourhood café with friendly service, where Roxanne makes you feel like family.
