At ReGen, we provide discrete, competent, and compassionate care for patients with opiate dependence. We believe in harm reduction and we assist our patients in reclaiming their lives from dependence on opiates. Our goal is to forge a comprehensive approach to the treatment of opiate dependence. While we do prescribe opiate agonist treatment such as methadone and suboxone we also believe in treating the underlying cause and precipitating factors, stabilizing patients, and allowing patients to begin dealing with and resolving any undue effects that they may have incurred as a result of their substance dependence.
The Jean Tweed Centre was established in 1983 and named after Jean Shannon Tweed – a woman who saw the need for a safe and supportive environment for women to address their substance use issues. Jean Tweed was a pioneer in advancing the cause of women-specific programming. The Centre was named in her honour.Since its founding, the Centre has evolved and grown to become a leading community-based substance abuse, mental health and problem gambling agency for women in Ontario. The Centre offers a wide range of services including residential and day programming, out-patient programming including family and trauma counseling, individualized counselling and continuing care. Outreach services are available for pregnant and parenting women as well as women who have concurrent mental health and substance use problems and involvement in the criminal justice system. In keeping with our focus on women, parenting and children, the Centre also offers a fully licensed therapeutic child development centre on site

We have been led to believe that they are diseases, and that when we have them, we are disordered, that we need treatment. The problem is that no one promises that treatment will heal the 'disease' because we really do not know if, how or where the disease exists. No researcher has eer examined a young, normal person and discovered an abnormality that, though not yet active, WILL lead to an addiction or mental disorder. We get maturity only when it is nurtured through the combination of responsibility, guidance and encouragement.
