Meet the owner

Bar Les Torchés opened its doors on August 19, 2014. The space was created by owners Érick Savoie and Christian Morin, who say they've always been the type to gravitate towards bars. "We loved going out, we have an epicurean side," says Érick. Even though the partners originally intended to open a restaurant, they knew when to improvise: "The space we found was more conducive to a bar, so we jumped at the chance," explains Érick. The two entrepreneurs haven't been afraid to get their hands dirty. "It was a work of passion, we made everything by hand — lamps, wooden and metal tables, the whole design," he adds.

Don't look for the concept behind Les Torchés: "There's no concept as such, but there's a state of mind," says Érick. "We want people to come into a permissive and warm space. Wood and metal are the materials we chose to create the impression of home."
