To build a stronger, caring community, Calgary Meals on Wheels promotes health and independence by providing quality, nutritious and affordable meals to people in need of our services. Although our principal clients are seniors, people with physical and mental disabilities, and people recovering from illness or surgery, we also serve the working homeless as well as vulnerable school children. Offered 365 days of the year, our Regular Meal Program consists of one lunch tray and a hot meal tray. These meals are prepared in the Calgary Meals on Wheels kitchen and delivered Monday through Friday by a dedicated corps of volunteers. All meals are prepared to meet Canada's Food Guide standards and accommodations are made for clients who require special dietary needs, such as texture modifications, renal and diabetic diets. Short term long term we're here to help. Age and finances are not qualifying factors to sign-up for service.
Calgary Humane Society is more than a shelter. We connect the lives of animals and people. We have been providing an essential community service since 1922. Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters more than 7700 homeless animals each year. We investigate animal cruelty, provide emergency boarding and help reunite lost pets with their owners. Support our initiatives by visiting our on-site pet store, where 100% of the proceeds from purchases support Calgary Humane Society.
last week we stopped in to look at some new dogs for our home. They had a huge selection which in one hand is really good and in the other its really sad. I have grown up with dogs and animals and with our new home i was really excited to get a new dog. As much fun as puppies are, its the older ladies and gents that have really had a rough ride...So we are still waiting to find the right dog for our home. They told us to check weekely and if we see someone we like to come down and meet them! We are really excited and are looking forward to our new friends! Read more
Welcome to National Diabetes Trust, Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household goods collection service and the social enterprise of Diabetes Canada. With more than 5,000 donation bins and an active home pick-up service in communities across Canada, we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items to raise much-needed funds for Diabetes Canada. This helps support programs and research on behalf of the 11 million Canadians living with diabetes and pre-diabetes. But, we’re more than just clothing donation collectors. We are an organization of dedicated professionals working with Canadians from coast to coast fighting to End Diabetes through waste diversion. Each year, the program diverts more than 100 million lbs. of clothing and household items from landfill sites across Canada. With your help, we can continue to support diabetes research, education and reduce our environmental impact. Schedule a pick up today!
