We toured all of the Peterborough retirement residences when we were looking for a spot for my father. Applewood immediately felt warm and welcoming. We have never regretted the decision. They have provided a home-like atmosphere, with caring staff, and plenty of activities for those so inclined. The management response during this COVID pandemic has been nothing short of heroic. A client of mine was looking for a retirement home but isnt good with the internet so I took on the task of searching and setting up appointments for her. I have to tell you when I called to inquire about Retirement By The Lake I asked to speak to the manager. I was politely told that she is on holidays. I left a message and to my surprise she called back within 15 minutes! She was so helpful and very kind. My client hasn't made a move yet, but she knows where shes going!

It’s a hard decision when placing a loved one in LTC facility. Main St Terrace is an old building, but what they lack in aesthetics they make up for with incredible staff. . I am astounded as to how well my mom is doing there. She’s happy, benefits from the interaction, she’s safe. With my mom’s dementia there is no way I could provide the same level of care, meals, hygiene, nursing, dr visits, physiotherapist, sensory games, outings, health, safety & security. My mom is hzppy & doing well
