It’s easy to miss newly opened Nakamori-it occupies the former home of Scarborough’s Zen Japanese Restaurant-but chef and owner Nobuyuki Nakamori is busy inside concocting various dishes in preparation for this month’s grand opening. It’s a cozy and intimate spot, with choices of standard tables, two low Japanese-style tables and the sushi bar, where you can admire the chef’s plating skills. Chef Nobu most recently worked in the kitchen at Susur Lee’s Bent, and he credits Lee with instilling in him the importance of food presentation. As each dish proves, this lesson has been well learned.

Nobo created probably the best contemporary Japanese fusion restaurants in all of Toronto. from the starter, drink, to even the dessert - a must try experience. Even the location is a blend of Japanese reliance on word of mouth in a indescreet area If you can call Caddys as a Canadian landmark.
Try the Pizza. She even uses the Tatami server.

The food here is so delicious. The menu is huge! All the dishes taste really fresh and the "bubble tea" is amazing! I forget what I ordered exactly, but it was spicy cripsy chicken on top of noodles. It was excellent. They also have the deep-fried standards like chicken wings, rice, and chicken balls. Anyone remember the chicken balls at Cresent Gardens? These are the closest that I've tasted to that recipe.
I love the atmosphere! There's always karaoke music playing in the background, and the floors and tables are spotless. The little asian lady always has an interesting story to tell.
All in all, although a bit expensive this restaurant makes great food, has a nice atmosphere. I'll be back!Read more

A new touch at an old Cantonese restaurant: a Brita water filter pitcher brought to the table the moment you mention water. With this introduction, we're not surprised to find a light touch in the kitchen and a canny hand buying the groceries. When was the last time you ordered classic chow mein? This is the place to revisit the dish that might have been your first encounter with chinese food. If they're in season, order the baby leeks, stir-fried with beef, garlic, ginger, and black beans. Try chicken in a hot pot with stir fried greens. At the end, in the Cantonese tradition, they'll serve the daily sweet soup - try it, it balances the meal. Once, there was only one Chinatown in Toronto and the style of cooking was strictly Cantonese. Take your taste buds on a stroll down memory lane.~ Sara Waxman.
