These original neighbourhood names, formerly the post office names in those communities, have persisted through the years even after the original post offices are long gone - except in Whonnock, but that's another story.
The Maple Ridge Historical Society has been the primary steward of community. Our extensive collections of photographs, documents and objects are in large part due to the efforts of the early society to collect materials and information from pioneers before they passed on.
The museum provides curatorial services for the artefacts and collections, presents public educational exhibits and programs, and shares historical information. The museum is owned by the BC Farm Machinery and Agricultural Museum Association.

The historic Port Moody Station which houses the Port Moody Station Museum was the second station built by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company.The Port Moody Station Museum is owned and operated by the Port Moody Heritage Society.
The Canadian Museum of Flight is a non-profit, volunteer-driven museum dedicated to restoring, preserving and showcasing Canada's rich aviation heritage. In the early 1970's, a group of aviation enthusiasts made a move to stop the exodus of historic aircraft leaving Canada for the U.S. and Europe. This group pooled their resources, to acquire as many of these aircraft as possible.

The village is a combination of heritage and replica buildings on a 10-acre site. Period costumed townsfolk welcome visitors and give demonstrations in the homes and shops.
