On a bitter cold and stormy night on the lower east side of Manhattan, six runaways were sleeping in the doorway of a young priest's apartment. When asked why the kids weren't at home in bed, they simply replied: 'we don't have a home - we're runaways'. That night, unbeknownst to himself, Father Bruce Ritter founded Covenant House.
The Association of BC Forest Professionals is responsible for registering and regulating British Columbia's professional foresters and forest technologists. Here in BC, the practice of professional forestry has been regulated since 1947 when foresters first agreed to help protect the public's interest in the province's forests in return for the exclusive right to practise forestry.
Since 1964, the BCSLA has been the regulatory body for landscape architecture in BC under the Architects (Landscape) Act. The BCSLA is dedicated to upholding public health, safety and welfare as it relates to the professional practice of landscape architecture. BCSLA members are leaders in the planning, design, development, preservation, protection, restoration, reclamation, rehabilitation, enhancement and management of both natural and built environments in education and public and private practice.
