Ring in 2017 with a New Year’s Day brunch in Vancouver

If Sunday brunch is the ultimate morning-after remedy, then New Year’s Day brunch is perhaps the most important daytime dining event of the year. If you’re going to be ringing in 2017 with plenty of bubbly, you’d better make some delicious recovery plans for January 1. Whether you’re in dire need of starchy carbs to soak up the booze or looking to down a few celebratory mimosas, these Vancouver restaurants have you sorted.

Sylvia Hotel

1154 Gilford St, Vancouver, BC V6G 2P6

If you’re planning on submerging into the icy waters at English Bay during Vancouver’s annual Polar Bear dip, warm up by the fire afterwards at the Sylvia Hotel. In a nod to the annual New Year’s Day tradition, Sylvia’s is hosting a special Polar Dip brunch: $28 gets you an entrée, coffee or tea, a mimosa, and pastries for the table. In keeping with the restaurant’s seaside locale, the menu features plenty of West Coast seafood, (salmon omelette, crab cake Benny, goat cheese frittata with shrimp) and a hearty bacon-and-egg-topped burger designed to thaw out freezing bones.
