Eleanor Gummer, a former examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music with a Master’s in Piano Performance, has run the Whitby School of Music since 1984. “There was a need in the market for a music school in this community,” she says. Group piano lessons were originally offered when she opened, but Eleanor eventually expanded to provide lessons for all instruments and age groups, which has helped her school grow every year.
