We went to the Black Horse for a secretaries' party last Christmas. It was a very loud atmosphere, so we wouldn't go back for a group gathering for that reason, however the food and service was very good. Everyone was very happy with their meals, and we had fast & friendly service.
I went to this joint with my friends who were some international students from Trent university, when i got to this place we were seated and were given the menu. My friends didnt feel comfortable, they felt out of place because pretty much every one in the restaurant was staring at them. Waiter was also giving us dirty looks and bad service. I felt really embarrassed to experience this with people who come to our country from miles away to study and explore. It gave them a really bad image. Also the food they served us was terrible, I mean one of the worst tasting food I had in my life.
Went to see Catfish Willie and the Bucklebuster play, gotta love live music. Stopped in for drinks and snacks. Friends were their having dinner and said meals are excelent , fries sometimes greasy though. We had a wonderful on tap Mill Street ale and a platter of natchos. Natchos were wonderful and they put jalipinos on one side for me and left them off the other side for my wife. Nice amount . good flavour and great price. Very averge pub style decore, but nice. Service was good also. Will return for more great live music, and maybe dinner next time.
This place is basically a chain pub with a single location. Generic decor, generic food, decent service, mediocre live music. It reminds me of every other "irish" or "english" themed chain pub I've been to, and could be located in any city. There are just much better places to go downtown.
Took a large group here. The food was WAY better than we expected from a pub . The service was great, prompt and friendly. Prices were reasonable especially considering the quality of food we got. We'll go back again for sure.
