Fortunes Fine Jewellers’ founding owner and designer Michael daCosta has a simple philosophy for his work: to provide a high level of service showcasing exquisite original jewellery. Fortunes has a full workshop where custom made pieces are carefully created on premises. Michael says, “The challenges of creating custom designed pieces is what keeps us going – we invent things every day,” he says. “It’s harder to be a fine jeweller than to simply sell fine jewellery”.

Fortunes is delighted to repair and care for all your jewellery regardless of where it was purchased. They do appraisals on the premises and can often do it the same day or while you wait. They offer services for hand engraving, restringing and watch repairs to all the finest brands. In addition, they have broad experience in creating all levels of corporate jewellery and recognition pieces and encourage you to discuss any ideas you have with them.

Michael has won fourteen first place awards in national and international design competitions. Most recently Michael won the Canadian jewellers Design of Excellence award for 2013. Michael was chosen to be represented in the recently published Masters of Jewellery Design, a book featuring the best twenty-five jewellery designers in Canada since the Second World War.
