We come here to celebrate our one year anniversary and only because they have $1 oysters after 5pm. We figured we would have a 5 or 6 dozen and then head out to a lite dinner and some dancing. We never left Biffs. From the amazing service to having the evening manager come over to talk to us, everything here was wonderful. We ended up eating 8 dozen oysters, a bottle of champagne andtwo bottles of wine as well as the Scotch Eggs, Oh me oh my the scotch eggs here are to die for and you will not regret ordering them. We stayed for 5 hours enjoying thre ambience and each others talks. At the end of the night ( we closed the restaurant ) they brought us a complimentry dessert with happy anniversary wriiten in chocolate on it. Nice touch! I highly recommend this restuarant for dinner, business or personal. $1 oysters people! You cant go wrong. Amazing service Fresh and tasty food What are you waiting for? Make a reservation now! lol. For 30 years Brownes Bistro has been a staple in Rosedale. Cherished by the neighbourhood's affluent denizens as well as lovers from all over Toronto, this restaurant's satisfying and sophisticated fare is what keeps its quaint tables in high demand. A classic bistro menu pays homage to all things French, including fresh creations conceived daily. Warm hardwood, oak paneling and crisp linens create an unmistakably European ambiance, while an excellent selection of wines will have you reaching for obscure adjectives in no time. With its hospitality and its low-key locale, without a doubt Brownes Bistro will be around for another 20 years.
Wonderful evening at Brownes Bistro, because of the refined elegant atmosphere, the wide selection of Italian and Continental cuisine and professional service. We really loved our evening out and Brownes Bistro was a big part of that. Thank you. Read more

On-line reviewers can't find enough superlatives to describe this Roncey fave, where locals regularly crowd to sample such spot-on Polish comfort fare as packed-with-meat cabbage rolls, perogies (pick from boiled or pan-fried) and decadent potato pancakes. Schnitzel is perfectly seasoned and just crisp enough. Beetroot soup thrills the vegetarians in your party. And combination plates make the tyranny of choice easier. Dropping in on the exceptional selection of Polish beer and vodka makes things easier, still. Staff is friendly, no matter how busy the place gets.
I've been to this restaurant twice now and both times the food has been great. But I was there with my husband's family last night for my father-in-law's birthday. My mother-in-law had brought a birthday cake to the restaurant and had asked them to bring it out as a surprise when it was time for dessert. Everything was going great until the server informed my mother-in-law (just before they were about to bring his birthday cake out) that we would be charged $10 just for them to bring it out! We said forget it, and we took the cake home and had it there! We would have ordered coffees and cafe au laits to go with the cake, so they certainly would have made at least another $20 off of that, but it's their loss I guess. So to summarize, the food was excellent as usual, but we were very disappointed that they wouldn't accommodate our birthday cake with out a steep charge - it left a bad taste in our mouth. Read more

It was our first time at the restaurant. We went there because one friend went there before and loved it. Me and my wife decided to try 2 brazilian dishes they do as specials: Picanha - a brazilian steak - and feijoada - black beans stew with diverse pork meat. I never tried something like that before! The picanha was very soft. The feijoada tasting very good because of the smoked pork meat. Both plates came with something called "farova" - I think it's the way they spell it. It's a manioc flour with meat and veggies. Very different! Our friend ate F. Mignon and he liked it.. I tried the sauce, very good. Next time I'll try the gnocchi with the same sauce. Read more

The Rushton is a bistro-inspired eatery situated on St. Clair Avenue West. The décor is an eclectic blend of classic and modern elements that combine to create a comfortable atmosphere that makes all feel welcome, while invoking some of the magic of a Manhattan hotspot. The Rushton was created to offer neighbourhood patrons an alternative to the many restaurants serving up Italian fare on St. Clair West. The menu offers many bistro-inspired comfort food classics from steak frites, braised lamb shanks and fish and chips to gourmet poutine studded with truffled brie and pulled lamb shank. The result, a place where you can take a date out for a special evening or a spot that you drop into after changing out of your work clothes after a hard day. With summer on the horizon, The Rushton is also planning a 60 seat patio for its patrons to bask in the glow of the St. Clair sunlight.
