John Jenkins grew up in Victoria and became involved with boats and commerical marine operations at an early age. He started working for Hill Marine and then went on to become a journeyman boat builder.In 1964 John incorporated his own business, Jenkins Marine. Using a shop on a hilltop in View Royal he began manufacturing Thunderbird sailboats. The company has expanded over the years into one of the largest and most stable marine repair companies in Victoria.
Commodore's Boats is a family business with 35 years of history on the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada. The father of Bosun and Teak Spiller, Alec, spent his teen years fishing the Northwest Coast of B.C. and the Gulf of Alaska on Wooden salmon trollers, seiners and bottom draggers. After 4 years in the Navy, he started an apprenticeship in the famous 'Wahl' shipyard in Prince Rupert, building wooden fishing boats and cutting lumber in the company sawmill.

We can lift up to 220 tonnes, accommodate ships up to 150' in length, and can fabricate or repair virtually anything, in any material, wooden, aluminum, fiber glass, or steel. We are fully insured with Commercial General Liability, Ship-Repairers Legal Liability, we're Secor Certified and we're always in good standing with Worksafe BC.
We are a diverse union of over 7000 members including carpenters, carpenter apprentices, lathers, millwrights, floorlayers, piledrivers, industrial workers and many other construction trades and school board employees. We are the largest union representing construction workers in British Columbia, Canada's most westerly province. Every day we stand up for workers – both union and non-union -- in many occupations.
