Restaurant Shalimar was started in 1990 by Mrs. Uma Nigam, with the assistance of her son Jyoti Nigam. Using knowledge gleaned from her upbringing in Northern India, Uma was the first to bring Indian cuisine to the Sherbrooke region.

I’ve had an Indian 10 weekend cooking course from a biochemist (we worked at the same University) from Indian (you’d be surprised how easy it is to make saag paneer, other recipes not so much!) and eaten Indian food at restaurants in 5 US states including those on both coasts so I have some experience.
